What to Do (Immediate Action Steps)
1. Encourage patient to cough strongly if conscious.\n2. Give up to 5 sharp back blows between shoulder blades with heel of hand.\n3. Give up to 5 abdominal thrusts (Heimlich maneuver).
What NOT to Do (Avoid Further Harm)
1. Do not perform blind finger sweeps in mouth.\n2. Do not give water while patient is choking.
When to Seek Immediate Clinical Help
Call emergency ambulance immediately if person cannot breathe, speak, or turns blue.
